Though rooted in Caribbean culture, our band was proudly born in Calgary, Alberta in 2025. 🎉🏝️
That makes this moment even more special—because you are still our pioneers, amongst the very first to experience this bold and beautiful journey with us. Meet the creative force and passionate leader behind Alberta”s newest carnival sensation! Itsa Flower brings years of Caribbean carnival experience and an infectious love for the culture that makes every celebration unforgettable.
With deep roots in Trinidad & Tobago’s cultural traditions and a vision to bring authentic Caribbean vibes to Alberta, Itsa Flower has crafted an experience that honours the past while creating new memories for our Canadian caribbean festival families.
Her dedication to authenticity, attention to detail, and commitment to creating a welcoming space for all carnival lovers makes Throwback to Sailors Aboard more than just a masquerade band—it’s a cultural bridge and a celebration of unity.

The way that the mental image of Sailors in Paradise, showed up perfectly on fabric is astounding! The selection came from one of the most renowned fabric stores in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. From there, we were out of the blocks and "unstoppable". Shout out to Jordan.

This section pays homage to the distinguished 1950s U.S. Navy officers who once docked on our shores—now reimagined with a touch of modern Caribbean flair. Dressed in crisp white uniforms, these masqueraders exude elegance and authority. Their most charming accessory? Their radiant smiles. The Officers are a refined lot of the band, effortlessly embodying poise and statesmanship. As they chip along the parade route, they wave, salute, and even pause for lighthearted chats, capturing the spirit of naval decorum with every step.

THE COVER UP QUEEN
She is regal, gorgeous and authentic with her look and stately finish.

The Cover-up Queen is always going to be admired. Of course she is, she represents the most traditionally dressed in our portrayal. She wears the full white top covering up her cute belly button….but still with the shorty shorts, hee hee! When you choose this section, you automatically get the “off the shoulder” cover up white top, but you can choose whatever skirt colour that you desire. Her headpiece is not just an accessory—it’s a tribute to the island women who may have wrapped their heads on a daily basis for their running of errands around the home or even heading to the town.

This youthful belle, knows and loves exactly who she is. Her white top is cropped and leaves exposed her entire tummy and lower back. It is off the shoulder as well, but the attention to detail in this style must be the baby attached sleeves…so so cute. She’s in the bele skirt as well, ready to frolick through the streets. Just like the Cover-up Queen, the cropped belle can also choose her particular skirt colour…either yellow, green or hot pink. Everything you need to know about joining our festival parade family!
🎭 What's included in my registration?
Your registration includes your complete costume, parade participation, assembly coordination, and access to all carnival day activities. VIP packages include additional perks like meals, drinks, and exclusive care packages.
📅 When and where is the carnival?
The carnival takes place on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 in Edmonton, and Saturday 15th August in Calgary. More details of our exact meeting spot will be published one week before the actual dates.
❌ Can I cancel my registration?
A person can cancel their registration up to 14 days before the carnival. Cancellations made within this timeframe are subject to our refund policy. Please contact us directly for cancellation requests.
👗 What sizes are available for costumes?
We offer costumes in all standard sizes from XS to 2XL. During registration, you’ll provide detailed measurements to ensure the best fit. Custom sizing may be available for an additional fee.
👥 Are there group discounts available?
Yes! Groups of 5-9 people receive 10% off, and groups of 10+ people receive 15% off. All group members must register together using the same contact information to qualify for discounts.
⭐ What's the difference between Standard and VIP?
Standard includes your costume and parade participation and water during the parade. VIP add ons: pre-parade breakfast snack, post-parade lunch, drinks, snacks, 15 min massage and an exclusive surprise care package.
🔄 Can I switch sections after registering?
Section changes may be possible depending on availability and timing. Contact us as soon as possible if you need to switch. Changes desired close to the event may be difficult to accomodate.
🌧️ What happens if it rains?
The carnival continues rain or shine! We’re prepared for Calgary weather. In case of severe weather conditions, we’ll communicate any necessary changes via email and social media. But you know our rogue weather possibilities.
